555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 29.
Time Awake: 11:28 a.m.
It’s important for me in the morning to get myself into the proper headspace by setting the vibe.
When I first awake, I am Zombie Mike. Barely functioning, certainly not able to carry a conversation. As movement occurs, my mind awakens and I become a functional person.
As I undergo my routine, eat my Hungryman Breakfast and get ready for the day, I get my head in a good place. Usually music gets me there. I listen to one of the few artists that I consume regularly — lately, Nujabes and Electric Light Orchestra — and their music gets my spirits flowing.
Sometimes I will listen to positive speaking, such as videos by Gary Vaynerchuk. Or I will listen to the podcast by Jocko Willink.
But more important for me than words is music. And the music gets me going for errands, for work, for communicating with people.
The added bonus of fun conversation with roommates helps. Or excellent phone conversation. Or texting with my Brother, which is always fun.
But the music. It sets the tone. It solidifies my vibe. And it carries the vibe through all that I do for the day.
