555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 58.
Time Awake: 10:13 a.m.
I got my beard professionally trimmed and neatened by a local barber here in Forest Hills. What a wonderful experience. Warm shaving cream, the hot rag on the face, diligent and precision care.
Personal grooming is necessary, whether it be hair, nails or showering. It’s easy to shirk our grooming, deeming it unimportant or not worth our time. (Except showering. Always always always shower.)
But it is important. It’s important for our selves because we feel better when we look better. It’s important for the version of ourselves that we present to the outside world. We need to dress the part — whatever part it is that we are participating in during our Lives.
Don’t get me wrong: I like my big beard. I was impressed with myself for how much time I maintained it and for how long it got. But there comes a time when looking like Scruffy McScrufferson stops working. It no longer suited me. So I made a change and am happy with myself for making this change.
