555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 106

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 106.
Time Awake: Around 8:40 a.m.
(I refer to this day as “Day 105” in the video. It’s actually Day 106.)
I recorded at 10:51 this morning. It had already been an awesome day and I was feeling great.
The topic is avoiding. It’s something I’ve spent a lot of time doing, and something I’ve been surrounded by for as long as I can remember.
What do you do when you’re always avoiding, rather than confronting or addressing and that’s what I’ve always known? Well. Do otherwise. Stop avoiding and actually address the things.
Conflict can be uncomfortable and addressing things can also be uncomfortable. But you actually resolve things by talking about them rather than pretending they are not there.
It’s good to recognize in myself that this is what I’ve been doing and what I’ve been around. But I’m not going to do that anymore. We address things. We don’t avoid.
And now: I’m going out to do something – I don’t know what. But I’m continuing the awesome that is this day.

Awesome from a few days ago.

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 105

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 105.
Time Awake: Initially, 8:49 a.m. But then a few hours later.
I feel refreshed today. The seven hours of sleep seem to have done the trick. My mind is clear, focused. There are things I realize I have to accomplish, all of which have been written down. Step by step.
Today’s entry focuses on legacy. Not legacy in the sense of a multimillion-dollar corporation, making its profits in tiddly winks or matchsticks. I mean personal legacy, which is how people will remember you.
The inspiration for this topic came from work yesterday. I was ringing up a customer who told me that she remembered me. I figured she meant I’m a familiar face because I have been working there for more than six years. She actually remembered me from when I was a child and said that I still have the same face.
This woman worked at the dry cleaners across the street from the church and school I attended as a child. She then talked about my Mom, remembering my Mom’s kindness and care. Essentially, her authentic personality traits.
This is what we will be remembered by. So if you’re a shithead, people will remember you as such. But if you’re otherwise, if you’re kind, generous, loving, whatever your authentic personality traits are, THAT is how people will remember you.
That is legacy.

Same face.

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 104

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 104.
Time Awake: 9:50 a.m.
Non-negotiables. Essentially, things that must get done every single day, no negotiation.
For me, the new non-negotiables are sleep, proper eating and exercise. All of these have been shirked to focus on stress but that was stupid and wasteful and led to a less awesome Me.
Having made these a priority once again will help be the fullest version of myself.
Sleep. I function best on seven hours (eight is okay too). So I must have seven hours each night. If I work late or things come up where I must sleep less, then a nap during the day is a must. When I do not sleep I am no fun to be around, barely function and am a shell of myself.
Eating properly. Along with stress, not eating properly has undoubtedly contributed to weight loss and being a lesser version of myself. I found an expert in my contacts and now have a focused eating plan for myself.
Exercise. This got thrown to the wayside altogether but is just as important as the above two. Exercise keeps me aware and focused and feeling physically and mentally healthy. Consulting my resources, I found another person who focuses his livelihood on exercise. He provided me with an exercise plan.
Sleep. Eating properly. Exercise. Doing all of these every day requires discipline. And that’s okay.
There is a saying by retired Navy SEAL and current speakifier Jocko Willink: “Discipline Equals Freedom.” I believe it. Having the discipline to keep yourself at your best means having the energy and focus to enjoy the things you want to do otherwise rather than being “too tired” or any other excuse.

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 103

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 103.
Time Awake: Almost 8:30 a.m.
It’s easy to get caught up in one’s stresses, the things that bother us. It’s easy to get stuck in our heads and thought processes. That’s where others come in.
Throughout this year, I’ve learned the value of talking to people during these times. Talking to others helps to gain perspective that I would not have found on my own. Just the act of talking aloud helps my brain process words differently than just thinking them.
I spoke to a friend today and one topic that came up was money, my personal woes relating to it, and my continued quest to develop a healthier relationship with it. I mentioned certain things that I don’t have the money for and received in response: “You’re too smart for that.”
My talents and gifts were pointed out and the reality that all of them can be monetized to make for secondary income. In today’s society, having multiple funnels for income is important and makes sense.
My day job is wonderful. I am blessed to have it. The people who work there have been very good to me. The job itself is consistent and continues to be relevant to society and long lasting.
But multiple funnels of income are prudent and doable. I shall work on this.

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 102

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 102.
Time Awake: 9-something a.m.
The things in Life that matter, the ones that lead to growth, change and improvement, all of them are not simple. They’re not easy. They take time. Effort.
Nobody can do the things for you. And if they offer to, decline. You have to do things for yourself, to build a foundation of understanding. Doing it yourself will allow to learn and take that information forward. Accepting advice is fine, but the actions have to be done yourself.
I have a lot of not easy things going on. The elephant in the room that I still cannot speak about. Talking about issues that were either not addressed or were left unresolved. My weight loss.
And others. For each item, I am working regularly. I have lists, and cross off things as they are accomplished.
I’m building Mike 2.0, don’t you know? That takes work, which is worth my time. The changes are already staggering. Onward.

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 100

555 Days Towards Level 9000: Day 100
Time Awake: 7:30ish
It’s the 100th installment of this project! Exciting. I’ve noticed in just 100 days changes in myself. Some physical, others in perspective and mindset. I’ve also started talking to people I wouldn’t have previously in order to gain perspective about myself.
Someone I know was concerned that I am putting too much of myself into these videos. That I’m showing all my cards and indulging in too much emotion. I don’t think that’s the case. Emotion is good and the topics I address are important to me.
The topics aren’t minutia or random emotions like being “hangry.” Those things don’t seem productive to speak about and won’t serve a purpose.
This project is a good reference for myself to look back on. Hopefully something I say will be useful for my niece and nephew someday. Maybe something will be helpful for a viewer who is not a relative.
With 100 days done, I look forward to the next 445.
